Το Erotica είναι το πέμπτο στούντιο άλμπουμ της Αμερικανίδας τραγουδίστριας – τραγουδοποιό Μαντόνα, το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε στις 20 Οκτωβρίου 1992 από την Maverick Records. Μαζί με το άλμπουμ κυκλοφόρησε και το “Sex”, ένα “coffee-table” βιβλίο που περιέχει χαρακτηριστικές φωτογραφίες της Μαντόνα. Η ίδια χρησιμοποίησε ένα alter-ego για το Erotica και το Sex ταυτόχρονα, που ονομάζεται Mistress Dita, εμπνευσμένο από την ηθοποιό Dita Parlo και μιλά για το σεξ και το ειδύλλιο. Ωστόσο, διάφορα άλλα τραγούδια, έχουν ένα πιο εξομολογητικό ύφος, επηρεασμένα από την απώλεια δύο στενών φίλων της Μαντόνα από AIDS.
Η Madonna ηχογράφησε το άλμπουμ στη Νέα Υόρκη με τους Shep Pettibone και André Betts ενώ εργαζόταν σε άλλα έργα.Σύμφωνα με τον πρώτο, οι συνθέσεις της Μαντόνα ήταν σοβαρές και έντονες, κατευθύνοντας τη δημιουργική κατεύθυνση των τραγουδιών σε πιο προσωπικό έδαφος. Την παραγωγή του άλμπουμ εξιστορεί ο Pettibone σε ένα άρθρο με τίτλο “Erotica Diaries”, στο περιοδικό Icon της Μαντόνα.
Μετά την κυκλοφορία του, ο δίσκος έλαβε γενικά ευνοϊκές κριτικές. Κάποιοι από αυτούς τον θεώρησαν ως έναν από τους πιο περιπετειώδης της Μαντόνα και επαίνεσαν τις παρατηρήσεις της στα ταμπού και το AIDS. Ωστόσο, άλλοι επέκριναν τα φωνητικά της Μαντόνα στο “Erotica” λέγοντας ότι ήταν λιγότερο επιτυχής απ’ τα προηγούμενα άλμπουμ της. Έφτασε στο νούμερο δύο στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες και το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο και έχει πιστοποιηθεί δύο φορές πλατινένιο και στις δύο χώρες.
